Louise, a popular young office worker, wakes to find herself in an underground nuclear fallout shelter. Mark, a colleague, says he rescued her from the carnage of a nuclear attack, and brought her to safety in the old shelter in his garden. Luckily he kept it stocked with tinned chilli, Dungeons and Dragons, and a knife.
Now all they have to do is wait until it’s safe to emerge...
Set in modern day London, the play is a thriller with macabre humour as well as disturbing drama.
After the End is by award-winning playwright Dennis Kelly, also known for Matilda the Musical, DNA, Orphans, and TV shows Utopia (Channel 4), Spooks (season 8) and Pulling (BBC Three). The original production was seen at the Bush in 2005.
